administrative & marketing assistant

The Comtel Group is a mid market organization that focuses on delighting others. We provide white-glove centralized vendor management of all the major technology providers throughout the life cycle (Evaluation, Migration, Ongoing Support), so that the customer can enjoy the technology without all the brain damage. Most commonly we help clients with providers who deliver; internet, voice/UCaaS/collaboration, WAN/SD-WAN, mobility, security, Datacenter/Colo, cloud, and more.

Reflection: My time at The Comtel Group has been fast paced and a great learning experience. Because they are a smaller organization I am able to wear many different hats throughout the organization. I have been able to engage in marketing initiatives, sales tasks, research projects, fulfillment deliverables, and even a little project management. They enjoy seeing me grow as a leader and provide several opportunities for me to take full ownership of the tasks I complete and drive forward. Because of the culture of the organization I have been able to grow both professionally and personally in life.

Administrative Intern

Three month internship with Verdugo Hills Hospital: (1) Assisted in creating and presenting on leadership rounding and hospital events. (2) Scheduled events that promoted employee engagement in the Heart Walk campaign. (3) Helped address customer satisfaction reports and customer needs.

Reflection: This experience has helped me learn several skills in customer management as well as healthcare marketing campaign strategies. I was also able to handle different marketing and management related projects from different administrative departments.

Non Profit Marketing Plan

An in-depth marketing plan of a specific non profit in the animal rescue industry. This project gave a full analysis of the industry and their current marketing efforts. Following the analysis, I worked proactively with upper management to create new and differentiated marketing strategies for the organization.  I was also able to create infographics designed for the organization specifically that showcased their successful outcomes in rescuing and adopting out cats. These infographics were also designed to help the organization share information with potential adopters. The semester-long project includes interviews of professional staff and customers, 42 customer surveys, as well as reviewed websites/articles relating to the industry.

Reflection: From this experience I was able to gain insight on how non profits operate and what methods of marketing they most often use. I was also able to learn how to work well with a new team and generate strategies based on their feedback. This project ultimately gave me the opportunity to serve and help problem solve alongside a non-profit close to my heart.

Marketing Research Report

A 3-month research analysis that identifies marketing problems for a local business in Fullerton, CA and provides valuable information to the decision-makers concerning the consumer’s preferences, attitudes and desires. The research was conducted primarily through in-depth interviews, a focus-group, and surveys. The semester long project includes interviews of professional staff and customers, 100 customer surveys, as well as reviewed websites and articles relating to the industry.

Reflection: One thing I would have done differently would have been to encourage the owner of the business to communicate with customers in order to yield a higher number of surveys collected. With a higher number of surveys there would have been more to analyze and increased value to the client. Overall, I was able to learn about the true value of customer input and how that helps guide marketing decision making.

Target Market Project

An in-depth research analysis of a specific industry, identifying marketing strategies of two different competitors.  After examination, a theoretical third product/service is created to compete within the specific target market.  The semester-long project includes professional and customer interviews, related websites, and articles within the industry.

Reflection: From this experience I was able to gain insight on what is required in order to efficiently reach a niche market. This project has also helped me understand the process of market research and how much the customer's opinion should be taken into account when making business decisions.

NCAA Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC)

As a member serving on this committee, our goal is to be the voices of the student-athletic body on campus. We are able to petition for certain movements and guide others in how to remain in compliance with the NCAA Divisions. We meet once a month to discuss upcoming events and topics that are of concern to athletes at BIOLA. We also frequently coordinate and participate in community service activities. The SAAC Committee at BIOLA aims to serve students on campus and other groups in the local community. What I have learned from this experience is how to be a good representative as well as servant leader for my team. This position has helped me understand the job in taking on a role of leadership and what it means to serve with efficiency and integrity.

Collegiate Student Athlete

As a collegiate athlete I have gained skills in team building as well as leadership through responsibility. Working with others and encouraging them is something that is very valuable in the workplace and in sports. Ultimately, I have found through being a student athlete that the key to healthy relationships and a balanced team is trust.  By being a student athlete, I have also been able to efficiently adapt to change and deal with adversity whether in the game or in the classroom. I highly value time management as this is essential when balancing different schedules. I also have learned how to productively work with different deadlines while still putting for my best effort in my work.
